Class of 2017
Year 5 have had a fantastic sports week! We've played rounders, raced for life and had a very sunny sports day. Our highlight though was the athletic competition all of the children tried really hard and there were some very worthy winners from both classes. Well done athletic winners better keep…
We had a fantastic morning with Chris using the school laptops to learn all about the Internet, and how easy it is for someone to publish anything they like. This is why we must be careful with information we find, and not trust everything we read online.
Year 5 were very busy with our Chinese visitors making a costume for Willy Wonka opening his new factory. We had so much fun and hopefully will have a catwalk show with our costume, watch this space!
The capybara class had a wonderful time making pizzas as part of our series of lessons on healthy eating. The children made everything, including the pizza dough and Mrs Brown thinks there are some budding chefs among us.
After our PE lesson this afternoon we ate them and they tasted…
Year 5 have been working with sixth form students from Churchill to produce a musical treat using their voices, guitar and percussion instruments. We had a fantastic time over the three weeks they were here and learnt so much!
Year 5 had a special visitor who took time out from her 90th Birthday celebrations to come and answer our questions. Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth.
On Thursday, we had a visit from a team from the Life Centre in Newcastle. They brought a planetarium along which we were lucky enough to go inside and look at the stars, planets and constellations, as well as allowing us to take part in some fantastic experiments. We made rockets and launched…
We have had an egg-citing afternoon making our eggs for the competition. The judges will have a very hard job picking a winner from this cracking bunch. Have a great Easter yolks...I mean folks :)
Our sporting stars in Year 5 took part in a 1 mile run in aid of Sport Relief. They were fantastic! Thank you to Mr Hughes for organising such a successful event and to the parents who came along to support their children.
This week we have celebrated STEM week and have covered a range of activities. We have made rainforest models, exploded a lunch bag, created our own erupting volcano, found out about plant reproduction and made peppermint creams. What a week!
The year 5 Capybara class have been writing the story of their life so far. The children then selected a famous person to research and wrote a biography about them.
